THE CARNIVAL OF PUTIGNANO

Is one of the oldest events in the world and accounts for Putignanesi an important socio-cultural context. The Carnival of Putignano boasts two firsts: it is one of the oldest and certainly the longest of the World: Some scholars do indeed go up to 26 December 1394, during the solemn translation of the relics of St. Stephen Protomartire from a Monopoli to Putignano where are still kept in the church of S.
